Wake Forest University School of Medicine

Wake Forest University School of Medicine located in Winston-Salem, NC, contracted with the Seacat Group to develop an online requisition system that would interface with their McCormick and Dodge mainframe purchasing system. We have used the system for five years and been very satisfied. Prior to implementing the Seacat System, we processed approximately 90 to 100 requisitions daily. Our workload has steadily increased and we now process an average of 125 requisitions daily and have not added additional staff.

Our requirements for a system were:

  • Windows based application
  • Ability to process requisitions from entry at a user's workstation
  • An approval process
  • Ability to track requisitions
  • Ability to charge multi cost centers to single line items
  • Easy for requisitioner to understand and use system
  • Easy for the purchasing staff to convert requisition to purchase order
  • Interface with McCormack & Dodge (DBS, Geac) Purchasing and GL mainframe system
  • Vendor selected had to be able to customize software to meet our business practices and support the customization.

The Seacat System met all those requirements. We have approximately 500 users on line and our customers have found the system easy to use. The purchasing staff can convert a requisition into a purchase order very quickly. The audit trail leaves the original requisition in tact. The Seacat System has allowed us to increase our work load with fewer errors and without adding additional staff. The Seacat Group was easy to work with, understood our business practices and delivered the product on time.
